Efficiency is one of the main drivers for any company. It is the increase of shareholder returns by delivering profits at reduced costs. Besides striving hard to generate the income (most banks are affected by the recent financial crisis) , they should take a hard look at reducing cost. Two main cost centers they should address are the operations and IT departments.
Through innovative use of technologies like utility computing and virtualisation, banks can reduce costs. and improved speed and service.
The Lehman brothers' saga provided the banks with invaluable experience and insight on communication and service quality. They should also take this opportunity to tighen the process of selling financial products especially if they are to continue offering complex derivative products. Care should be taken to balance risk and efficiency.

What should the banks do next? Part 2

What should the banks do next? Part 1
Of course, there is the treasury (investment) function which in recent years is the Cash Cow of most banks.
For many years, banks have been growing at break-neck speed. The tremendous growth has produced redundancies and inefficiencies. It was not a priority to be dealt with at that time. They were more concern with more growth, riding on unprecedented economic prosperity.
What should the banks do next?
The banking institutions should go back to the basics and take this time to increase steady revenue (interest and non-interest income), reduce cost, increase efficiency and improve service quality.

The Original Law of Attraction
Like Abraham who was chosen by God to be blessed and to be a witness of His works. Abraham obeyed God's instructions, and because of his faith God blessed him richly.
Lord Reign In Me *
Over all the earth
You reign on high
Every mountain stream
Every sunset sky
But my one request
Lord my only aim
Is that you reign in me again
Lord reign in me
Reign in your power
Over all my dreams
In my darkest hour
You are the Lord of all I am
So won't you reign in me again
Over every thought
Over every word
May my life reflect
The beauty of my Lord
You mean more to me
Than any earthly thing
So won't you reign in me again

Cunning Bear and Sluggish Bull
***Characteristics of Bull and Bear markets***
The direction of the primary trend is the single most important piece of information that an investor can possess. It is critical to understand that the primary trend is the great all-powerful tidal-force of the market - the prevailing trend. The basic concept of the primary trend of the market is the most difficult concept to get over to people and that includes Wall Street professionals and money managers.
The most difficult thing to do in a bull or bear market is to exercise patience. In this world of instant information, perpetual talking, instant quotes, and fast moving markets, it is very easy to lose sight of the big picture. In this business of investing, the major consideration is always the direction of the primary trend of the market.
Patience has to do with the ability to sit through time, even boring time. A basic instinct among investors is "always to do something." Often, the correct posture is simply to sit with your basic positions and allow the primary trend to fully express itself. (Obviously in a bear market your positions would not be in stocks but cash deposits etc).
Big money is made investing early in a bull market and staying with the bull market for months, years and maybe decades, until the bull market finally expresses itself. The full expression of every major bull market is "super-speculation", while the full expression of every bear market is abject pessimism. Big bull markets and big bear markets always end in exhaustion. Exhaustion in a bull market occurs when the last bull has spent his money buying shares. Exhaustion in a bear market occurs when the last bear has dumped his last stock. Many events can temporarily halt a bull market - but nothing can end a bull market except exhaustion. The same principle applies to a bear market. The bear can be temporarily halted but once the primary trend turns down, the bear market will run to conclusion, and conclusion will be exhaustion - nothing will stop the bear market from fully expressing itself.
Primary trends always take much longer than anyone thinks possible - and ultimately, they go much further than anyone thinks possible. This applies to the stock market, the gold market, the money market (bonds) and the currency market.
All bear markets are deceptive. If they weren't, nobody would ever lose money. The reason people lose money in a bear market is simple - they do not believe they are in a bear market, so they sit and they lose their shirts. It's the same reason most people do not make money in a bull market. By the time the bull market is two-thirds of the way through its cycle, market talk is everywhere, and people finally believe it's a bull market. They get in late, get caught at the top and they ride down the first leg of the bear market before they realise that they are again on the wrong side of the fence. Thus it will ever be.
The key to a bear market is erosion, the gradual whittling away of profits and the gradual increasing of losses being sustained by the investing public. Holding common stocks in a bear market is as tantamount to gambling at Las Vegas. You may hit it in the short run, but the longer you gamble, the better the chances that you will lose your money. By the same token, the longer you hold your stock portfolio, the surer the odds that you will sustain declining profits or increasing losses. The bear's favourite advice - "Hold them for the long haul".
The stock market is like a living organism, an ever-changing animal. If the animal is a bear he is cunning and ruthless, without emotions and without pity. The bear has no mercy and no conscience. His first task is to lock in the largest number of people into the stock market - and lock them in with losses. The next step is to take the market down, while keeping this "losing majority" in the market; keeping them "happy, hoping, and above all holding"
How can the bear accomplish this feat?
He will do it with the help of a "cheering section" made up of amateur TV and newspaper "experts" and permanent - bull brokerage house analysts who make a living by way of commissions buying and selling shares. Very few analysts make insightful comments about the main or primary trend and cover up their ignorance by touting individual stocks or what percentage this or that stock or sector has risen. And of course there is the investors own reluctance to "take a loss" - so the investor listens to the "cheering section" of amateur "experts" - the investor is only human - and he hears what he wants to hear to avoid the pain, even thinking rationally about it. Of course, there's the other phenomenon that the average person has an ingrained inability to envision or accept change. The evolution from primary bull markets to primary bear markets entails massive change. White becomes black and day becomes night. This is more than the average investor can deal with.
One of the most difficult procedures on the stock market is to identify the big picture. One reason why it is so difficult is that the market tries to disguise the direction of the primary trend. In a bull market one of the main disguises is the barrage of items, comments and analysis that serve to frighten investors and keep them out of the market. In a bull market "investors climb a wall of worry", the bull market does not like company. It always aims to confuse and disappoint the greatest number of investors possible.
In a bear market, the continuing ocean of optimism serves to keep investors in the market, happy, hoping and holding even though the great majority of stocks are heading south "a bear market descends on a stairway of optimism and hope." Gradually, a background of pessimism builds that ends in a crescendo of fear until finally - abject terror. The operative sentence towards the end of a bear market - "I cannot take it anymore." Get me out at any price, just get me out.
Bear markets move much faster than bull markets. The action tends to be more concentrated, more violent, and more emotional. Bull markets gradually build a background of optimism, optimism that ends in a crescendo of enthusiasm and finally - frenzy. The operative sentence toward the end of a bull market is - "I have got to get in, buy me anything."
The bear market is in no hurry. The bear has got all the time in the world. One thing is certain however and that is when the super-bullishness does burn out, the parabolic will break down and the ensuing correction will develop into a full fledged bear market and will accelerate in earnest often wiping out a major portion of the entire preceding rise.
In a bull market values increase through time and all situations tend to work out favourably. Conversely, in a bear market values decrease through time and all situations tend to work out unfavourably.
Bear markets don't work the way bull markets do. In fact bear markets often work in the opposite way to bull markets. Dull areas become sell areas. Bullish appearing technical methods become bear traps. Hopeful areas suddenly turn into panic areas. Remember "everyone loses in a bear market and the winner is the person who loses the least" (Richard Russel). Why gamble when you don't have to, and you don't have to until the bear market has finally run to conclusion and conclusion will be exhaustion.
In a bear market, the bears are right, just as in a bull market, the bulls are right. For example, in a bull market a build-up in the short position is very bullish since in a bull market the shorts are positioning themselves against the primary trend and are therefore wrong. But in a bear market a build-up in shorts is not bullish, since in this case, the shorts are aligned properly in harmony with the primary trend of the market. Therefore, those believing that a build-up of shorts in a primary bear market is a bullish factor do not understand what's going on.
In a bull market bad news is "appreciated" since ironically and intuitively bad news helps to build the proverbial "wall of worry in which the bull market climbs." But in a bear market bad news drives stocks lower since the bad news is in harmony with the basic trend - in other words bad news should be taken for just what it is - bad news.
In a bear market the technical indicators that you used during the bull market are not going to work. Be forewarned (this is one of the tricky factors that hurt so many sincere analysts during the 1968 - 1974 bear market collapse). Bull markets do not go straight up and bear markets do not go straight down. It is not wise to play for bear market rallies. Professional investors buy into a bull market's downside correction, and will sell into a bear market's upside correction.
There is no point in playing for a bear market rally as the odds are against you and bull traps abound and render your technicals useless. A bear market is a force unto itself, and it does not give a darn about oversold conditions or any of the dozens of other studies that "worked" so well during the bull market. Example, unlike corrections in a bull market, a bear market "sneers" at so-called "supports." The bear makes a practice of cutting through "supports" like a hot knife through butter as though they do not exist. This is one of the surprising and frightening characteristics of bear market action.

The Sky is falling!
It is not about liquidity anymore, it is about confidence!
Confidence is harder to restore than liquidity.
This is because Fear is a greater force than Greed.
Losing $5000 has a greater heart stopping adrenalin effect than gaining the same amount.
People want to preserve capital in the midst of global bad news. It will take some time to heal.
Meanwhile, buckle up and if you can, enjoy the ride.

Too fast and fury
It's been a while since I blogged because I am too busy with work to do anything else.
Thanks for the comments and i apologised for not being able to reply everyone of them.
I have to make this entry to commemorate the World's first F1 Night Racing (yes! in Singapore). As i am typing this post i can hear the roaring engine sound (no...not from the posh hotels in marina bay area but from my TV)
What "Excitrifying" (exciting and terrifying) months...
Aug 08 - Exciting because of Beijing Olympics...
Sept 08- The finanical hurricane that caused several investment banks to vanish into thin air. Many were awaken to the fact that investing in complex products which they do not fully understand is dangerous and ANY investment comes with RISK.
So much is happening around us that, in the matter of a month's time, we realised that the finanical landscape has changed and we began to take notice of our food safety.
Oh, how i look forward to Christmas! I hope by then all these incidents will settle down. And the Economy will recover in time for a good year end party!
In the meantime, do pardon me for not updating regularly, as so much is happening around us, too fast and fury...to blog. It has been a good break actually (from blogging, not from work)
Oh, there goes the F1 cars again. Zoom...got to go! Till next time...

Spiritual Sunday: Be Strong and Take Your Stand
Do you lack the courage to stand firm? Do you cave in easily in this power-hungry world full of trials and temptations.
Realising that our battle is not against flesh and blood, we are called to be strong in the Lord and take our stand.
We are not called forth to charge (because the war has been won) but simply to take our stand.
Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:10-12

The Olympics Fever
If you are wondering where i was, I was at the Olympic.
No, i was not in Beijing Olympic. I do not have the luxury of time and money to go there. I was in front of my TV after work.
Sorry for not being able to reply all your comments during the period. Please do not blame me. After all, The Olympic games comes only every four years. If i missed this Olympic, i have to wait four more years.
Olympic will end tonight. I guess i will suffer from a bit of Post Olympic withdrawal symptoms.
I will be alright in a week or two after i recover from looking forward to watch the world's best sport persons come together to compete for the precious metal medals.
What a wonderful Olympic this has been! One of the best ever!
Cheers to Beijing 2008!

Spiritual Sunday: Empower me
Why do some of us not living victoriously as is intended by God?
Why do some still feel miserable and suffer cycles of defeat even though we are given the seal of the Holy Spirit upon our Salvation.
Why are we not experiencing the joy as promised?
It is because we have not been constantly filled with the Holy Spirit. To be filled with the Holy Spirit constantly is to abide in Christ, everyday.
It is a command and not a choice.
"Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit. Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ." Ephesians 5:18-20
A good way to start is:
To confess your Sin (we do not experience the fullness/filling of the Holy Spirit if we allow Sin to dwell in us) , read Bible passages aloud in your own quiet time and "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."
until
"May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer." Psalm 19:14
****
Better than You
Nobody sees, all of my needs
Better than You
And nobody has, the power to change me
To what I was born to be
Jesus be strong, in my weakness
Empower me
Chorus:
Empower me
Like a rushing river flowing to the sea
Lord, send your Holy Spirit
Flowing out through me
Till I'm living as Your child
Victorious and free
Send the power of Your love
Empower me
Nobody's eyes, see through my soul
Better than Yours
Nobody's love, can make me whole
No love but Yours
And nobody has, the power to lift me
To reach for eternity
Jesus break through all my defenses
Empower me

The reply from Nuffnang
Our server experienced a technical error and went down a few days ago and our service provider couldn't even figure out the reason why. However, our programmer and technicians did our best to bring the server up as soon as possible. We would like to apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Rest assure that in the future we will be conducting more regular check ups with our servers to prevent such circumstances from happening again. We do realize that your decision is entirely up to yours and we do not wish for you to change it merely based on our apology. However, we are glad that we have responsive bloggers under our community such as yourself to improve our services.
Thank you.

The bane of Blog advertising
The bane of Blog advertising is that when you allow blog advertising on your blog, you are subjected to it's loading speed, but worse of all, the non-loading of it. I had a few experiences of it.
EXPERIENCE: I have been patient thus far. But tonight the Nuffnang Advert widget causes my blog to load so slowly (it was stuck at the Nuffnang Widget for so long) that it has the effect of a 'computer hang'. It was about the time when i published my post "Embracing your fear"! Talk about timing!
The last time that happened was a few weeks ago (recall my previous post- traffic jam) when "One of the servers in Nuffnang is experiencing problems..." and an apology email was sent to us swiftly:
"You may have noticed that you have trouble accessing Nuffnang Singapore and our ads today. One of our servers in Nuffnang Singapore is experiencing problems. There was a hardware-related failure while carrying out an upgrade in the morning. Our technical team is working with our hosting provider to get things back to normal. At the moment we do not specific ETA on when the issue will be resolved, but we will keep you posted.
We are very sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for bearing with us."
I accepted and beared with it but this time it is too much! It has happened quite a few times already! I wanted to lodge a complaint with them but their sg website loads so slowly, i can't even do that.
DECISION: I am going to take down all Nuffnang advertising on my blog until they resolved their technical problems completely. I cannot let their problems affect my blog traffic. Nuff Said.
Updated: I managed to lodge a complaint with them via their problem ticket system. Awaiting their reply...

Embracing your fear
I like the movie "Batman Begins". I watched it tonight when it was shown on our local free channel. I missed it when it was shown in the cinema sometime back.
It was not simply about beating the villians and the high-tech stunts.
It is about confronting your fear and embracing it...

Analysis of Asian Blog Celebrities 1
Starting from today, i am going to introduce a few of our local asian blog celebrities and analyse why are they so successful. We can all learn from them and modelling successful example can propel us further. Most of the information i gathered are from newspaper reports & interviews and from their blogs.
ok. i start with Benjamin Toh, a young blogger (19 years old only) who started blogging only late last year (oh dear! that's 'later' than me) and he already achieved the following traffic. He is presently a final year student at a local polytechnic in Singapore.
Average Per Day: 1,462
(learning point: Technorati rank may not have direct impact on traffic)
Unique Selling Point: I visited his blog. He blogs about anything in his daily life. He blogs about his friends and rants about his school work and part time jobs. He uses lots of pictures to describe events and points. He even writes about Pepsi latest product (not sure whether that was a sponsored post but how i wish big consumer product company will ask me to write a review). He writes with feeling and energy. I think that's why it attracted a lot of youngsters to his blog.
Main target audience: youth (do not underestimate the power of youth traffic)
Visit his blog to see it for yourself.

Celebrity Blog rankings
I am curious about the relationship between celebrities and their blog ranks. So i did a bit of research (all public information) and the conclusion is quite obvious. The more popular you are, the more traffic and link you will have for your blog (of course that also depend on whether they write often in their blogs). It is thus an easier task for the celebrity to propel their blogs. It is a matter of whether they want to or are interested in doing so.
It is however, harder to be a celebrity by blogging. I will write about blog celebrity in my coming post. Stay tune.

Why i love blogging
Sometime i wonder, why do i love blogging? Is it the fun of writing? for the creative expression?
I realised that in the real world, i am a no-body. Just a dot in the pack, struggling in the rat race. In the blogsphere i am, not great, but at least somebody. Not by the so-called Technorati ranking or authority but by the fact that at least there are people around the world reading my blog.
Just like the protagonists in the Chronicles of Nardia by C.S. Lewis. In the real world they are just children. But in the magical realm of Narnia, they are heroes fighting evils.
That's why i love blogging.

Stop Wasting Energy
Surging oil prices cause utility bills to increase. To save money and save the earth (by conserving energy) at the same time, we must reduce wastage of energy. We can start by turning off all devices on standby mode which leaches energy.
Go ahead! start switching off the power of your gadgets at source. We must change ourselves first before we can change the world.

Project Heavy Traffic gets first Blog review!
Wow! No, it is not World of Warcraft, i am talking about. it is the excitement of getting my 1st blog review from os9user newsroom . I am so delighted, i don't know what else to say (loss for words) except to say Thank You very much, George (os9user)!.
Although Os9user is an established blogger himself, he still takes time to help fellow bloggers like me.
In his own words, "Any Blog that tries to help other Bloggers, will certainly be added into my link roll, no questions asked.".
Very few professional bloggers are willing to link to or write about low ranking blog for fear of diluting their ranking. OS9user is an exception! Because of that spirit, I salute you!
-----This an extract of the Review from os9user newsroom-----
Project Heavy Traffic (my newest request) does offer something to its readers. Here is a quote from that site.
This blog is an experimental project on how to attract traffic to web sites and blogs from scratch. I will share my experience and the effectiveness of each method gathered and applied. As you witness the growth of this site, it is my hope that you will participate through sharing information and comments.
As you clearly can see from this sniplet, this blog "Shares Experiences" with others. By doing this it won our way into our "heart" and link roll.
I encourage my readers to check this site and read some of the postings. Most of them are short which leaves room for comments or questions to the site owner.
I am not a know it all by any means. The Internet is a very, very big place.
I can tell you how I got started, and what I am doing today, but this site is looking to break records quickly.
If I take the time to read the postings or "Yank" on his feeds, I might learn something I did not know about.
This makes this site all the worth while ( for me ) to check-out.
And you Too !
So wonder over and take a look. I really would appreciate your comments and / or suggestions on this site.
-----End of Extract-----

Hitting the Energy Wall
The world has hit the Energy Wall. Long warned that the natural resources of the earth are depleting faster than we thought, we are still not doing anything about it. The demand for oil has become so inelastic that the price of oil keep rising.
It is time for us to decide. Continue to be dependent on oil and suffer the foreseeable consequences OR actively finding alternative sources of energy and at the same time, try hard to conserve energy. Not just for the sake of being part of the GREEN company but truly for the place we reside in.

TechnoFav Train
TechnoFav Train
My blog buddy, Michael Wong and I have started this Technofav Train to increase the Technorati ranking for those who are involved.
I invite all to join us. Destination: Technorati Highland! Cheers!
Please inform Michael (he is the Train captain) once you have decided to join us here and post the following instruction in your post.
*Start copy*
Hi everyone! In the interests of friendship and promoting our blogs, the purpose of this tag train is to add all the blogs on this list to your Technorati favorites list. In return, everyone else will add you to their Technorati favorites list.
Instructions
1. Go to http://technorati.com/faves/yourblogurl (replace yourblogurl with your Technorati id.)
2. Add each and every blog URL on this list as a favorite. Don't worry about Tags as it would take too much time. Click "Add".
3. Then copy everything between and including Start copy and End copy.
4. Paste it into a new blog post in "Compose" mode so all the links are preserved.
5. Add your blog's URL to the end of the list. If you intend to submit multiple blogs then put this list on all your blogs please to be fair to everyone else.
6. Post everything using the title "TechnoFav Train"
7. Next contact 5 friends who aren't on the list and get them to join. The more the better. I am aiming at 1,000 group members, but I'm confident we can find more than that. My secret goal is 5,000 group members and those of you who know me are aware of my promotional persistence. Can you imagine what that will do to all our Technorati rankings?
8. Leave the URL of your post here as a comment and your blog will be updated on the masterlist.
9. Once a week, return to the masterlist and copy it over the list on your blog post.
10. Add the new blog URLs to your favorites. This last step is important because if you don't add new blogs to your favorites list, then those new blogs will end up removing you from their favorites list and then nobody wins.
11. Finally, increased Technorati ranking to all!

Heavy Traffic Blog Review
I chanced upon this blog os9user newsroom and found it to be interesting. It has updated interesting news around the world.
The massive inbound web traffic amazes me. The blog does around 60,000 clicks a month. It drives hundreds of clicks to other sites per day, depending on the story. What attracted me to the blog is not only because of the amazing traffic growth but also the personality behind the blog. os9user is a blogger who is willing to help other fellow bloggers. He will add you on his blogroll if your blog qualifies his requirement of helping other bloggers, quote "Any Blog that tries to help other Bloggers, will certainly be added into my link roll, no questions asked.".

Traffic Jam
Hi, i apologised for the traffic jam on my site. I think it is because of the Nuffnang ads widget. I went to their site t check and it is offline. I went to fellow sites that put up Nuffnang ads to verify and got the same result as mine. So i temporarily put away Nuffnamg widget until they fixed their server problem. Presto! My site is no longer jam!
I apologised to those who wanted to contact me back about the the Project Heavy Traffic link exchange. Please post your blog url again and i will add your site. Cheers!

Enduring the Bear Market
There is a very good article on stock investing written by Prof Chan Yan Chong. I like to read his article as he explains terms in an easy to understand manner.
I find this quote of his very classic "The bear market will only end when investors no longer have the guts to buy into the stock market."
Check it out. Prof Chan Yan Chong's Column

The Wild Card
Many people think that it is the rising oil price that will break the camel's back for the world markets. But they missed out a critical element- the declining US dollars.
Some believes that it is the falling US dollars that drives the fuel for the speculation of the oil commodity.
Will somebody just stop the slide to prevent the oil price from going through the roof!

Project Heavy Traffic Links
Project Heavy Traffic Links
Project Heavy Traffic has decided to launch Project Heavy Traffic Links.
I am going round inviting other bloggers to exchange links with me. I am now PR3 and has a technorati rank 0f top 6000 and technorati authority of 631. I want to build up my incoming links and hopefully help others to build up theirs too. I will be introducing interesting sites from the exchanges in my post .
To prove that i am serious, i have moved up my link section - Bloggers' Network and Blogroll on the top right panel - for the month of july.
Please help me to spread the words and put this request in your post if possible.
If you are interested to exchange links with me, please leave your blog URL in the blog comment. No political, profanity and porn sites please. Thanks. Once i have enough links, I will be categorising the links to make it more orderly and visible.
I will very much appreciate it if you could add the links of my bloggers' network on your site as well. Let's help each other to build up links.
You can experiment it too and you will be surprised to see there are many kind bloggers out there!
Cheers to greater traffic!

Prospering Blogger
I am fascinated by the interesting method used by a new blog- bigmoneylist. Although the method of gaining incoming links that fast might not go well with Google bots but it still has its place in generating traffic in this vast DotUniverse of blogs and sites . I am very encouraged by the author's determination and willingness to experiment similar to the spirit of this blog.
Michael, the author of bigmoneylist, in his post Maturing as a Blogger reminded me of my own journey and my blog purpose, which seems to have lost some steam due to time and toils. I have decided to recharge and put in refreshing content. Please bear with me as it takes time.
It has also reminded me of my strong belief of the collective strength of bloggers' network rather than just individual effort. We can learn so much from one another. "There is enough of the pie to go around" as one of my friends always advocate. Let's prosper together!

The Best Cardio In The World!
Most people find it difficult to exercise regularly especially when we have to juggle our time between work and family commitments. If not having enough time is your excuse for not exercising regularly, rope skipping might just be the solution and here's why!
Rope skipping is known to be excellent for cardiovascular fitness and coordination. It is also good for keeping our bones strong and healthy. Just 10 minutes of rope skipping is equivalent to a 1.5km run or 20 minutes of high impact aerobics! Not only does skipping burn more calories that other exercises, it has got to be one of the least time consuming and convenient exercise ever!
Given the numerous benefits that rope skipping offers, it is a pity that many misconceptions about this activity have prevented many of you from even considering it. Well, I urge you to think again, especially for those of you who have forgotten what a joy it is to jump and be active! But first, let’s break down some of the common myths about rope skipping!
Myth 1: It's Too Difficult!
One of the best ways to start getting fit is through the process of learning a new skill. Do not give up just because you have become less coordinated! Many adults give up on skipping because they keep missing the steps. With a little more practice and some coaching, you will be skipping again. Like cycling, once you get a hang of it, it is going to be a breeze! Besides, the mastery of new skills does wonders to the self-esteem!
Myth 2: Rope Skipping's Harmful to My Joints
According to the U.S. Olympic Committee Sports Medicine Council. It is far less hard on the muscles and bones than jogging. When running, each foot absorbs up to 5 times the body weight from the force of the impact as the foot hits the ground. But with proper rope skipping technique, the impact of hitting the ground is slowed down and absorbed by both calf muscles. I personally know many people who cannot run because of knee injuries but can skip without any problems.
Myth 3: It's Boring
Whoever thinks so obviously has not seen the variety of skipping styles that you can learn. There are just so many variations of the same techniques and combinations to master. The best part about learning new styles is that you get so much fitter without even realizing it because you are so psychologically “involved” in learning the new skills that they forget about the pain of huffing and puffing that is often associated with exercise.
The perfect exercise would cost very little, take a few minutes to complete, burn lots of calories and be enjoyable indefinitely by everyone. Despite many infomercial claims to the contrary, there is no such thing as the perfect exercise. I reckon the closest thing to the perfect exercise has got to be rope skipping!
Join us for free rope skipping lessons every Saturday at East Coast Park. Visit http://www.skipping.sg/ for more information.

A simple Prayer
according to your unfailing love
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions
wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin
Create in me a pure heart, O God
and renew a steadfast spirit within me
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your holy spirit from me
restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
You do not delight in sacrifice, or i would bring it
You do not take pleasure in burnt offerings.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
a broken and contrite heart
O God, you will not despise.

Public Enemy No. 1 - INFLATION
The whole world is fighting Inflation. From US to China to Vietnam.
Why? Because Inflation is a general rise in price level for a sustainable period of time.
Soaring crude oil prices push up transportation costs, will eventually cause food and other items to rise as well. Time to buckle up for a tough ride!
