Over the past few days, I have been systematically and methodologically applying the steps i have listed here (walking the talk...) and the result is Trariffic..I mean TERRIFIC!

The page view has now increased to over 600 in less than 2 weeks! Unique and returning visitors has also increased! IT WORKS!!!!!! If you want to increase your free traffic for FREE, please visit my blog, i will regularly post my findings...I do the leg work (research , apply and evaluate) and save you time!!!

I also have been busy reorganising my blog. Just changed my blog template to 3 column template. I think it gives more blog space. I have reorganised it a bit to make it neater. Thanks rocky for your valuable comments.

Pinging is letting a blog directory (or RSS feeder) knows that you have updated your blog.

You can use feedshark and Ping-o-matic to regularly ping updates of your site. This is important as you can generate new traffic as well as returning ones. If you have any other pinging site, please share it with us.

By now everyone would know that my style of blogging is in the form of snippets for busy people like you and me who wants to read information quickly and easily without going through long passages.

I Just want to revisit my goal again for new readers.This blog is created to share my experences of attracting traffic to a blog from scretch. Too many sites are offering principles and there are not enough application or step-by-step guide on this topic.

This blog goes beyond a guide.

As I apply the methods which i have researched and gathered, to build up the traffic of my site, i will share my experences and the effectiveness of each method. In doing so, i hope to save you time.

As you witness the growth of this site, It is my hope that you will participate, share information and comments on this topic so that the readers of this site will benefit.

Wow! I am now convinced of the effectiveness of Digg's traffic reach. I am going to try other site like Slashdot's, Reddit, Furl, Shadows and Stumble. Will update the result to my site on my blog.

Encouraged by the small result, i started to research more on Web traffic by doing on books, doing hours of research on the Internet. Will publish my findings and thoughts on this blog soon.

Meanwhile, the next thing i am going to do is to exchange link with other sites. Exchange link with other sites is one of the method to increase web traffic to your site.

I am going to Forum and blog communities and ask (politely) to exchange links. It is a win-win situation. More traffic will be generated for both sides.

I believe also by giving traffic to others (leading to other sites) the traffic will somehow return to you. So i will be displaying links of those blogs or sites which i think are interesting and will benefit my readers.

Wow! i could not believe it! The traffic to my site has increased.

Nearly given up but the result will spur me on...in search of methods to increase web traffic.

I checked my counter log and got to mention that social content site like Digg and BlogExplosion are quite effective. Got to explore this and other sites further. Will report status next time in...Traffic O' Meter!

Add a small text and web link at the bottom of all your emails, comments or posts
Be sincere in giving comments in forums or blogs. People will sense your sincerity and reciprocate (at least, this is what i believe)

i just learnt from the internet there are advertising networks like Bloggerwave, LoudLaunch etc which offers money for blogging via sponsored posts. However, the blog must be at least 3 months old, updated regularly and no auto generated content.

I went to Backflip, Bibsonomy, Reddit and del.icio.us to bookmark my site to increase traffic. Will add more bookmarks in the future.

Of course! i must submit my url to google, yahoo and the other search engines and the open directory, DMOZ (http://dmoz.org/). Will do it now...

i got a problem. No body knows my site yet? How do i get them to know of this new site?

I have good posts and information but no one visits my site means no one will know. It is a catch 22 (or chicken and egg) situation. I am still thinking...maybe will come up with suggestion shortly.

Joined the blog community site - MyBloglog and added the "Recent readers" widget to my site. Also to increase reach.

Next, I registered my site with Technorati, a blog search engine. Added a "Add this blog to my favuourite Technorati" button to allow my reader to add to their favourite list. This is to increase reach.

As i understand the importance of RSS feed to attract returning readers, I added Addthis RSS Feed subscription widget onto my blog.

Just use the page element feature, add a page element 'HTML/JavaScript' and copy and paste the widget script in the content area.

At this point, i have posted about 4 to 5 short posts.

I also reviewed my post titles as title is important when reader searches for my posts.

To show that i am serious about measuring traffic (although it is quite pathetic now...), i have added a statcounter to measure the traffic flow to my site.

Blog description is important for Adsense contextual advertisement to display relevant ad. I type some descriptions related to the content - Increasing web traffic.

While i am in my blog dashboard, i notice this 'Earn money from you blog' ad, i decided to click and add google Adsense into my blog.

This is the initial step of adding a monetization source into my blog (i will find others and add it to my blog).

I have to create an account with adsense and place the adense into my blog using the page elements of the blog. Since Google takes about 1-2 days approving adsense account, i will just have to wait. Meanwhile, google will display some public service ad.
