More people are dying in their homes without their neighbours knowing.
According to a local recent poll, 20 per cent have never spoken to their neighbours. It has been reported that one of the greatest fears of getting old is to die alone.
We are squeezed in a densely populated city and yet we hardly know our neighbours. I urge you (this is also a reminder for myself) to talk to your neighbours more and try to get to know them. At least, greet and talk for a brief moment in the lift instead of awkard silence.
The easiest way to break the ice if your neighbour has a child is to ask the child "how old are you?", the parent will then reply "oh, he is 3 years old". ..
Let's go beyond just saying 'Hi' and 'Bye'.

GREAT post, but my problem is that my Finnish is still so bad...but people here usually say "hi" to one another at least when they know they're neighbours. Oh well...
I read the same in the papers as well. One good post. We should try to know our neighbours!
Hi Amel, it's ok. Sometimes Saying 'Hi' and a smile is a great way to start. One day i must visit Finland. Cheers!
Hi Karen, I will try to get to know my neighbours even better this Chinese New Year! I will bring some CNY goodies and tibits over to them! Cheers!
